Vision's Edge XTensions

VTools is a collection of useful editing and product tools. VTools is designed to handle several of the mundane tasks in a workflow environment and add useful features to QuarkXPress.

Simply put, VTools provides you with these solutions:

Fit to Content resizes a picture or text box to its content.
Full Fit Picture resizes and crops a picture to fill its box.
Eliminate Duplicates interactively removes several sequences of duplicated characters such as space-space.
Story Statistics displays the character, word and line count of a story.
Process Colors changes the color separation.
Auto Create Library append the images in a folder to an existing library.
New Layout* creates new documents from a database of stored document sizes.
Advisory Board is a simple mark up utility for marking text for review, redlining changes and adding production notes.
The VTools Palette changes the text rotation, text skew, baseline shift and horizontal scale from a tiny palette.
Copy & Apply is a copy and paste utility for copying text and paragraph attributes and applying these attributes to other text.
Case Conversion changes the case of the selected text.
Link Tools does linking and unlinking of stories that QuarkXPress does not do.
* New Layout is not available in VTools 8.

Advisory Board

Advisory Board is an easy to use redlining and note tool for improving review workflows.

The Advisory workflow is simple. When editing a document, select the altered text and clcik on either the Mark or Review buttons on the Advisory Board palette. Text that is to be deleted is marked in magenta. While new or changed text is tagged for review in cyan.

When the changes are approved, use the Next button to find each change and click on Fixed to remove the Advisory. The magenta Advisories are deleted and the cyan Advisories are changed to black.

Need to give futher instructions to the reviewer or artist, Advisory Board also create Advisory Notes. These notes are special boxes that Advisory Board can easily find and delete when they are no longer needed.

VTools Palette

VTools features a useful styling tool called Copy & Apply. This tool copies the text or paragraph attributes from one selection of text and applies them to another selection. It is just like copy and paste but attributes.

VTools can rotate and skew the contents of a text box. Create unusal effects with your text.

The VTools Palette puts several design and editing tools in a tiny window for instant access.

Rotated text is different from rotating the box. With rotated text, the path the text follows rotates but it becomes constrained by the unrotated box.

Baseline Shift and Horizontal Scale attributes are easily changed with VTools.

The VTools Palette has four buttons for rapid case conversion. Convert the selected text to upper case, lower case, word caps or sentence caps with the click of one button.

The Fit button on the VTools Palette resize the current text or picture box to snugly fit its contents.
